Precedents Sustainability of Hot/Humid Climates
Tips For Hot Climate
Roofing is important part of sustainability the use of darker roofing allows the heat to be absorbed. Orientation of the house and the position of the windows allow for maximum efficiency in taking control of the temperature as well as the orientation of each room to allow for the best use of the climate. The use of a tee-pi in the older days shows vernacular and the use of sustainability in the hot climate because of the use of material allows the heat to be limited so they won't be to hot. |
In the second image the use of digging a hole and creating the house in the hole prioritize the soil's constant temperature to give an comfortable inside temperature.
This is a diagram of a tee-pi with section cuts in order to show an idea of how the system works.

This picture shows the use of circular/dome shape and the darker color of the roofing allows the heat to be trapped in the roof rather than letting it come in.

This house shows orientation of windows and the amount of windows to allow wind to pass through which keeps the internal temperature cool throughout the hot climate.

New Projects Sustainability
All the houses below use overhangs and the use of porches to allow wind to pass through to keep cool.
Picture 4 shows solar panels which are a key factor in new projects, because hot climates get a lot of sun and this energy could be transferred to the house to get warm water, run the air condition, and provide for the electricity.

Green Househttp://inhabitat.com/green-building-101-energy-atmosphere-part-1/
These projects involve green home, basically how can we make the house so it is suitable to the surround environment and climate, without having to use air conditioning. |
PassivhausThis project uses the idea of more insulation similar to colder environment, but using this for hot and humid climates.

The use of solar panels to efficiently use the sun's energy to convert to such things as electricity, heating water.
