A concept page was the first step in the project to gain a good understanding of my client. I learned many of her outstanding accomplishments and her success. Taking the covers of countless magazines, staring in at least 34 films seen around the world. Known for her iconic red lip, shocking the world with her outfits that were seen at the time as scandalous and risky. Its no question that Marilyn Monroe wasn't just your regular blonde.

To memorialize Marilyn I decided not only to remember her for her popularity, beauty, and fame. I also wanted to highlight the less popular side of Marilyn Monroe. A double sided screen will play videos of Marilyn's iconic moment and the other side will play news reports and slide shows of all of her struggles with drugs, loves, mental illness, and childhood. A long path to enthuse her fame, while on the other side it will be symbolizing her grief, hidden and dark. The Memorial is in the shape of a circle to show that this was a cycle for Marilyn. Arches used to tie into Californian architecture.

I decided to put my Memorial in Echo park California in Los Angelo's. Echo park gives a beautiful view of Los Angelo's a place where not only does her legacy reside, but science proves going for walks can help maintain and deal with depression significantly. Echo park is not only a great place to go for a walk but also a great place to get away from the darkness and stress of life.

In addition to the Memorial, I made a memory space similar to a fountain. The water will rush other the glass, making everything outside the glass hard to see. Once the viewer is inside the water will shut off giving a beautiful view of the city Los Angelo's. I thought while the water was rushing over the glass it would help symbolize how struggling with depression you only see the small picture, The room. then the water will suddenly stop rushing over the glass. Exposing the infamous city of Los Angelo's.

I also require a residence space for people to assist in the research of Marilyn, as well as a service space to maintain the Memorial and a Action space, To advocate those who may be suffering with the same struggles with mental health. I landed on this design. I figured the residence will need to be around both spaces often. So conveniently have them close by. I also figured they would all need to be around the parking lot as it will be a more accessible spot for visitors. Or anyone interested in our action space.

Elevating my project.

To better understand why I chose my site location. I created a site model and Revit sheet highlighting trees, water and greenery as an important part of my site.

For my foundation I decided to do a twist on traditionally therapy. Dance rooms, and gardening area along with rooms that very in size for other clubs such as, Art, reading, and more. This is because Marilyn leaned heavy on her medication. I wanted to remind people that the best medicine comes from each other. So we don't forget why the building is here, a memory space of Marilyn is on the 3rd floor. The unique roof is to represent her flowy dresses, a staple in the Marylin foundation.

A residence space for potential studies to take place about how our unique therapy is changing lives. A 1950s styled studio room brings people back to the days of Marilyn. I felt that this was important due to the fact most of the buildings were more modern and I didn't want people to lose the 1950s that Marilyn lived in.

This water space has the same purpose as previously: to remind us to look a the bigger picture, and also that we are never alone.
