Refugee Project 1

For this project we were tasked to design a refugee shelter. We were to base our design off of one word; I chose the word portable. I came up with an accordion design so my shelter folds up and can be transported.

Sketch: I started off by sketching my idea. came up with an accordion folding design.

Study Model: Then I build a model to see how it would work and see any issues in the design. I noticed that it would need something to hold it fully extended and cover the holes on the corners.

Final Drawing: After I saw the problems with the design I came up with a piece that goes over each corner and covers the holes while keeping it fully extended. Then I drafted the final drawing.

Final Model: Then I build a working model that has removed the the issue of the holes, staying fully extended, and I refined the fold out porch cover.

Refugee Project 2

In this section of the project we were supposed to design buildings for the refugees to return to their home cities. I designed a restaurant with a house on top of it for the owner to live in. It also includes a rooftop garden so the family can grow their own food as well.
Picture
Sketch: I started off with a cube shaped stacked house. I also had a small stand connected to it which I later removed because it didn't work well in the space.
Picture
Study Model: I made a model of the original design but I made a mistake with the placement of the overhang, but it ended up being better than before so I used it in my final design.

Final Drawings: I made floor plans for the building and ironed out the idea by placing rooms where they worked and putting in utilities to provide functionality.

Final Model: I made the model with the new roof design and with the correct sizing for everything.
