At the very beginning of our project, we were assigned a word to base everything off. My word was layered and to incorporate this word into my drawing I tried to capture the visual effect of overlapping areas. I wanted it to look almost 3- Dimensional

The second stage of the project was designing a tiny home, but to do that we had to find a location. I chose Sitka, Alaska, for its views and very low population. I focused on having a secluded house with multiple views of the mountains and sea

After designing and drawing out an almost igloo-like building, I put it down on the map. I worked on where the main entrances would be and how accessible the house was. I made sure to stay focused on views and to make sure the ight sides of the house were facing the points of interest.

Once I had the basic shape of the house, I moved to the interior. This is when I really had to focus on two things, what rooms would have the views, and how to use my word layered in the design. The layered part of it was captured by having a central fireplace to radiate heat throughout the house, and having each section as a layer expanding outwards. The hallway was the second section followed by the rooms on the outside.

​Now it was time to start the detailed elevations, the hardest part was the roof and capturing the dome shape. The main reason of this was so the snow in Alaska doesn't pile up and crush the house. I made sure the house was tall enough to stand in before the roof started caving inwards.

When I was working on the overhead view of the roof, I kept views in mind. I had stairs from the elevation that would lead up to an observatory like area that could look out on everything around the house.

Our final part of the project was AutoCAD. We plotted out all our drawing in the design page in order tov get our dimensions right and lines in place .This elevation is the side of the main entrance. There are windows on tis side in order to let in light.

This is the opposite side of the last picture. This elevation you can see the observatory at the top and the porch. The porch is a huge part of the views because it is an open area that looks out at the sea.

The north elevation offers you to look at the side with bedroom windows and lets you see the overall circular shape of the roof and the igloo influenced structure.

The last elevation shows the garage. It shows that the garage is almost as wide and tall as the house itself, and keeps the circular shape of the roof.

This is the final floor plan, it has all the furniture and the size/ locations of the rooms finalized. I had to check the square footage and make sure it was still within the limits, and to check that the dimensions were correct. After plotting this out the house was completed.
