Kailynn Stone: Architectural Design I
Project 01: City Pavilion
For this project, the goal was to design a pavillon cube. Not just any pavillion cube, but one that is able to convey the essence of a specific US city. My city in particular, assigned by random draw, was Phoenix, Arizona. The cube was suppoed to be designed in a way where civilians could walk through it and interact with it. We started from an aerial view of our city, and progressed from there.

City Research
I have previously been familiar with Phoenix, or so I thought. Turns out, I had never paid attention to its true history and geography. Through my research I learned about how diverse Phoenix truly is. It changed everything I was originally planning for my designs. I learned that a lot of its heritage involves hispanic history, but has now been covered up. It's almost like it’s sort of been pushed awary, hidden. Talking about it’s city geography, there’s a correlation between the two when it comes to “hidden”. A lot of anti-grid elements and inconsistencies hidden underneath a main grid element.
Drawings and Model
Moving foward with my designs, I made sure to incorporate this newfound information into my building. I wanted to show these inconsistencies and the hidden history in my model and capture its diverysiy, socially and geographically. At first glance into the entrance of the building, it seems plain and normal. If you take a closer look and explore what it truly has to offer, you’ll be surprised.

Project 02: A Forest Cabin
Write a brief description about the project and your design objectives. Remember your audience is anyone anywhere in the world. Set up your work so that from this point forward, everyone will have an understanding of what it is you are doing.
Research
Describe your research process including what you made and discovered. Explain the contents of both your drawing and Padlet. Describe how you are interpreting and understanding all the topics included in the research. What have you learned and what information is useful? Provide enough description to have your text be close to the same size as your drawing to the right. Align text full --->

Final Design
Include a written description of your final design. Describe the design in terms of its form, space, and materials. Talk about the decisions you made to address the biome and project element. Target about a paragraph for your writing.
