Jorge A. Martinez: Architecture Design II
S U P E R H E R O E S
The project for this semester was to design ways to reflect a client of our choosing through architecture but for this we needed to understand our client and their achievements. Our client needed to be someone historically significant, a real person that has died, and needed to be a woman.
Frida Kahlo
PROJECT 1: Memorial
This part of the project was focused on finding a client and doing research on who they were and have an understanding to make the project more connected to who they were by making a memorial that reflects my client.
|
This is information gathered to show a brief on who my client was.
|
Memorial Design
My memorial design is set based on the quote "Everything can have beauty even the worst horrors". This design shows two paths in which you will experience the most horrible parts of Frida Kahlo life then transition to the best parts on who she became. The path and the quote could go from normal to vise - versa "Every horror can have the best beauty".

Project II: Legacy Institute
The second phase of this project was creating a foundation to communicate our client with the public in architecture or representing information by reflecting our client.

Concept Design
In this part we had to come with foundations to effectively communicate with the public about our client.
Concept 1: The Dome
In this concept I wanted to have a curve path to represent how it felt like to be her and the dome would isolate you but inside is open and colorful which that's what happened with her. She had rough life but made it to where she could be who she wanted to be.

Concept 2: Prosper Ball
|
This Concept was a symbol of Frida staring in a bad position and made it into an unstoppable ball> In the Ball would be most of my client's accomplishments and to learn about her. In the introduction there will be action spaces with pillars you could try to repair and the first will be the most destroyed showing she started in the in the worst way possible.
|
Concept 3: Wall of Inspiration
The 3rd concept is majorly separated, and main attraction will be the wall that will have a statue of Frida Kahlo and behind the wall will be broken steps representing a quote "To bright to reach but too dark to follow". The overall placements keeps workers and public spaces separated in order to keep things unified.
