Project house: FRANK GEHRY

More of Gehry's Work |
For this project, I had the Winton Guest house designed by Frank Gehry. For the first part of the project I put together a concept drawing which included a variation of objects that pertain to Gehry. The Fish blended into Guggenheim Bilbao (one of Gehrys best works) , for example, resembles Gehry's inspiration, and the star of David represents Gehry's background. I used a variety of mediums, which include oil pastels, marker, graphite shavings, pen, and printed pictures while making this concept.
After the concept I then moved on to drawing up a parti diagram, and program diagram to understand the "basic geometry" of the house. Which wasn't very basic considering the many angles that make up the house. Once i was familiar with the house, I moved on to the floor plan, and received a better understanding of the house and its uniqueness Finally, I drew an elevation and a 2-point perspective. Fully rendered. This is the point of the project where i fell in love with the house no matter the frequent mistakes while trying to draft the floor plan.. The different materials, unusual angles , and shapes really pin point Gehrys style ( which is very out of the ordinary compared to other architects.) |
