Project 1: Architecture Binaries
Regular:Irregular
For this project in the studio we were exploring architecture verbs and binaries. I chose to work with the binary regular:irregular. We needed to create a drawing and a model that explored and represented our binary in many different ways.
Preliminary Sketch Up: |
In process of creating our project, we studied architecture verbs. We went through things like cross, bend, shift, and many more to help us create and learn something new in architecture.

Drawing Process: |
For my drawing I wanted to try to create something that explored the binary in many different ways but come together as a whole drawing. So I created many, many shapes to create a background that would impact the colored major shaped to create something irregular out of something regular.

Model Process: |
For the model, I created something irregular out of regular shapes. I started with a 6"x6" cube and overlayed with regular curved shapes to create this.

Project 2: Museum
In this project we were assigned to design a museum that would stand in The Arts District in Dallas. Dallas is full of great architecture so this led to many great opportunities on what we could do. We were also assigned to impliment a binary and an archive into our museum.
Preliminary Work:
|
When I started sketching wanted to try to create a multistory cube building, but wanted to twist it around so it wasn't so generic looking.

Revit Process
|
I used the same binary, regular:irregular, in my project, and used the side building and the main museum building to represent the binary. To connect the two buildings, I used the 2nd cube (3rd and 4th floor) to make a way to travel through the building. I wanted all the museum space to be in the cube tower, and all the private space to be in the side building.

Model Process:

This is my museum in context with a 3D printed model of the Arts District in Dallas my class worked on together. I think my building blends well with the rest of the Arts District and allows you to get great views of the architecture in the city.
