Addison Ragosino: Architectural Design 1

Project 01: City Pavilion​

For this project we were building a pavilion based on the city that we got. We had to study the city and all the major parts about it and find what was most important and the best to put into our pavilion. For example, New York has a very popular park that's called central park. A lot of people go there so I decided that would be important to put in my pavilion. Another thing that is big in New York is time square, time square is on the major road so I decided to put that in my pavilion too.

City Research

what we learned during the research is that there are a lot of famous buildings like the Empire State Building and the Twin Towers until the crashed down from the plain crash. We also learned that there are famous statues in Central Park and all around New York. We found out that the winters there are very cool and the summers are hot and humid.

Drawings and Model

I wanted to make my pavilion and make it a space for people to come and relax from the crowded streets. There are little rooms for people to reserve and go in and enjoy the piece and quiet. There is a bar for people to get food and sit down and watch tv with their friends. I wanted to put a second floor for more rooms to for people to reserve.

Project 02: Cabin Design

This project is where you have to make a cabin the woods. For my idea of a cabin I wanted it to be very modern and simple with a lot of natural lighting. I did a few ideas but I didn't really like how they looked boxy so I tried to combine them and I ended up with three story cabin.

Forest Research

For the forest research we had to look up East Texas and see what kinds of trees, animals and plants the forest has. We also had to find cabin architecture and what cabins usually look like and how they evolved from 20 years ago to now. Another thing that we had to find was types of wood, like the different colors and textures and which one would be good for the outdoors and rain.

To build a cabin in the woods wee needed a place to put the cabin so we were given money to throw on a pice of paper and were ever the coins landed that's where the trees would be. then we hade to draw the primary and secondary views, the wind flows, the hot and cold air, and the lighting views.

For the  parti we had to make a simple drawing of our model. the parti in the picture is the from the beginning so it is upgraded​, and same with the bubble map.

Final Model

This is my final model. It has a covered patio and a covered garage. On the first floor it has a big window that covers the wall so you can see out into nature. Also on the first floor it has a pond to make it feel more like you are in nature. on the second floor is the gathering area. The kitchen, living room and the dining room. on the third floor is the private areas. Two bed rooms, two bathrooms, and two closets. I wanted to make the floors stager so its a different kind of design. I also put a swimming area because I like to swim on my free time.
