Jorge Cisneros: Architectural Design II
Project 01: Urban House for a PainterAre challenge was to take a old historical building and expand it out but also keep some of its historical shape. Are imaginary client also is a fan of a artist which they would like to include into the house. There was a lot of things to consider and a lot of research we had to do in this project. So there was a lot of thinking on how to take a historical house and improve it at the same time keeping its historical and making the client feel like there walking in there artist work.

Existing House: Father Son Holy Ghost HouseThe historical building i was assigned to was a Father Son Holy Ghost House. It has other name and for now i am going to call it the trinity house because its easier to say. What i found out about the trinity house is that they where created in the 17th century. They really started growing in the 18th century because the population really started to grow. The trinity house where made because they where quick, efficient, and affordable housing for those people.

Painting AnalysisThe artist that my client looked up to was Juan Gris. For a while Juan Gris was part of the trilogy member with Picasso and Braque for his style of art, the Cubist painting. The painting looked to my like puzzles pieces and i broke them down into parts. While doing that it made me realize there basically shapes stacked on top of each others.

Design Development
The way how trinity house are they are attached right next to each other. I could't cheat the system and get a corner house so i could expand out easily. So now i was stuck with the idea that i could expand out the sides of my house. What i ended up doing was expanding out the front and back but not all of it at once. In all of concept i expanded them out in sections so it could looks like shapes stacked on each other like how I saw the drawing of the artist.
Final Drawings and Model
I ended up going with my first concept idea because out of all three it was the one that stuck out but just a little bit more. I didn't really ended up changing a lot from the previous concept except the scale of it. We used a application called Revit and made everything 1/4 scale even the model. To make my design i had to demolish juts one wall in each floor that's how ended up expanding my building. I also wanted to cut my model in half so i can show the inside and how it would have look like but i never ended up putting the details inside. Every floor had its own purpose like the first floor to be all art base and then the second the gathering and eating area and on the top floor would be the sleeping area for the master and guest bedrooms.
