The Site 

We were instructed to find a site big enough for 7 small farms and enough room for the three of us to build as well. We began looking right around down town Detroit, and as we kept looking, got closer to the core of the city.

Here's where we started. We were looking for a strip of land big enough to fit seven sites for the Advanced class, and enough left over for the three of us to fit our projects in. We wanted it to have some stuff around it (buildings and houses) but not that many.

Next we began looking around these neighborhoods. There were a few good spots here and there. A lot of them were falling apart and boarded up. But there weren't any community buildings really through out them, so they were a good location to look through.

We chose this neighborhood for the site. There were only a few houses still in use, and two strips of town house complexes. There was a lot of land to use, enough that we set aside a section for people to build if more people want to move here. And there was actually farms that had been started here. You can see them in the three pictures below.

The neighborhood had lots of abandoned houses and buildings, as well as vacant lots. Giving us a lot of opportunities for the site placement.
