PROJECT 01 : BACKYARD COTTAGE
This project explored the concept of creating an unit (ADU), or as a tiny home or in my use Backyard Cottage. i got randomly assigned a craft which was a fabric artist. A fabric artist is someone that uses plant , animals and synthetic fibers to construct practical or decorative objects. And we use things they make in our everyday lives.
Craft Investigation
In the beginning of this project i had no clue what was a fabric artist and how i was gone contribute this into my design. I started off by searching what do fabric artist needed in their work environment , the main thing it showed was space and storage. i knew then this might not be that hard. i use padlet to store all my different ideas and what i want certain things to look like in my client cottage home , i noted things that i could and couldn't do in this competition. after storing ideas in my padlet i started to lower down the ideas to leading into how i wanted my clients cottage home to turn out and that they can use this space in their advantaged.

Concept design
how i started to develop my design is by creating unplanned designs , using different methods . As i kept going i was taking things i did from each design and carrying it to another one. i had 3 different types of models
concept 01: This is my first design , i used cardboard pieces and glue to attached this all together to make my first model. Using the method i realized some things wouldn't work out and some things i can continue to use for my future cottage. Something that wouldn't have worked for me and my client that there were two types of roofs that didnt to much go to gather. i continued to use the large windows and try to get some natural light |
concept 02: This is the second design , I used chipboard and glue . I also cut certain parts of this for the unique design Using the method i wanted some that i didn't need to go into detail but wanted to show the main point of the art in the model i put a lot of randoms stuff , that respenblies fabric. I used different size pieces to show quote - different fabrics. |
concept 03: My last design was i used different size pieces of cardboard. i used a 3x2 , 5x8 and a 5x3. Using the method i wanted to be as random as possible and not really think what i was doing but also to were it makes sense. I found my self showing less dept in my space and kept going for a more boxy look. |

Schematic Design
These are my concept designs lay out and etc. i used and drew a lot of things i wanted and kinda added on to the models on the paper version. i also took notes of things i like or wanted to moved around.
Final design
in my final design i contribute all my ideas in one for as how padlert on how i wanted my cottage to look and how i wanted it to be placed out. i used myber 1\2 of the space of the main house backyard to also give my clients space to be outside. i wanted to show natural lighting and big window's accomplished that for me. In the house i wanted to have a modern farmhouse type of thing with the gabol roof and including certain textures in the cottage.
Floor Plans: For my floor plans i wanted something simple , since i knew this was going to be a small cottage i wanted it to feel space-ish so i made sure to not put as much walls . i also have a good amount of windows to add that extra feel of space.
Work Space: For my work space i needed a lot of space me of what my client dose , they need storage and alot of room dealing with fabric, making such large items.
Elevations: i want the elevations to be very detailed and specific. i knew i wanted a farm house type of look so i went with an global roof. and to show how big i wanted my windows
