Jarret - Town Planning
Due to the fact that I wanted to make a town, thats exactly what I did. Indroducing Jacksonland. Lets take a look.
My town is on the border of the Texas Panhandle, sandwiched between Interstate 40 and the historic route 66.
Louis - Floating Home
Inspired by the catastrophic Louisiana flooding in 2016, and Precedent projects such as the Morphosis Float house, The concept of my floating house was born. This home is unique in the way that it rises and falls dependent on the immediate flood height. They way the home floats is by using the area underneath the home to trap enough air capable of keeping the structures' weight afloat. To prevent the home from floating away when a flood does occur, there are 3 staggering anchors located underneath the homes platform which form a triangular shape for stability. They are comprised of two interlocking units, one stationary, another mobile. The stationary anchor falls 10' under the basin that the home sits in, And the basin is 3' under the ground. Special Mechanics keep the anchors level when there is unequal water heights under the structure. In addition to the stability and safety of the home during a flood, There is a 2' wide ledge around the entire exterior of the home which makes for easy evacuation during a severe flood. Canoes and Kayaks are located in the main living room and hidden as a design piece when not in use.

Interior & Floorplan

The Interior of the house is designed to work with the platform it rests on. All Water and utility connections run through a mutual wall on opposite sides of the house, and meet in the center to travel down the middle anchor into storage or collection tanks that are buried underneath the basin.
