WUNDERKAMMER AND CRAEFT COLLEGE
CRAFT MEANING COLLAGE.
My first task of this class was to interpret the meaning of CRAFT and portray it through a physical collage made with images from magazines. To me, craft was a skill one could hone for an extended amount of time. In my collage, there is things like canoeing. pottery, painting, gardening and swimming. These are all skills or hobbies that someone can do for a long time. I also made sure to include things that could be handmade like the pottery and the furniture pictures.
ARCHITECT COLLAGE STUDY: Marlon Blackwell.
The architect I chose to study was Marlon Blackwell. Blackwell is a practicing architect based in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelors in Architecture and a Masters in Architecture II at Syracuse University.
When studying his works, I noticed that the majority of them were public spaces meant for socializing or getting together with friends and family. I also noticed that his works include nature to some extent. These features allow for a person to get comfortable and feel like they're in their element. I portrayed these ideas and feelings into my collage, there are more pictures in it than just his works which can communicate a feeling of belonging and almost nostalgia.

BEGINNING DEVELOPMENTS OF THE CRAEFT COLLEGE TEXTILE BUILDING.
TEXTILES COLLAGE
I used this collage to express and show my ideas for my CRAEFT college space. My classroom setting mainly focuses on costume making for people like singers or actors. I wanted to communicate these ideas with the pictures I chose like the people pinning fabrics to mannequins and all of the different colorful textures or dyes of fabrics.
We also used a PADLET to communicate our CRAFT to the other students. We used PADLET to delve into research about our CRAFT and to find ideas as to what should be inside of our class setting.

FINAL DESIGNS
WUNDERKAMMER DRAWING
Above is my final WUNDERKAMMER drawing that I presented to a jury of two architects and my classmates. When making my drawing, I made sure to include a floorplan, section, and an interior view. I drew the interior views and the variations of my "finished product" section by hand after being inspired by draped fabrics and large, exotic features that most performers seem to have. I wanted to demonstrate the inside of my building to show how a student can walk around and complete assignments easily because everything is in its destined place and is organized to where everything can be found with ease. I also wanted to demonstrate the concept I was going for which was a stage-like exterior with the main "talent" being everything inside. This is illustrated with the walls filled with different fabrics, the main working desk being right in the middle, and the elevated level where you can display your finished costumes as if they were performers.
WUNDERKAMMER MODEL
This is my final WUNDERKAMMER model. I wanted to show what kind of ideas I had for my WUNDERKAMMER in this model so the outer layer of it is a rough, organic texture with gray and black metallic paint dry-brushed over it to make it look like a spiky rock and the inside is pitch black to attract more attention to what is inside of it. My model is also made to look like a runway which fits in with my costume idea. On the inside is a small replica of the working desk from my WUNDERKAMMER drawing with a sewing machine, a few fabric rolls, and other trinkets played on top and surrounding it. I wanted to make the small space looked lived in and chaotic like I intended my CRAEFT classroom space to look like. The main eye-catching part of my model is the big bow decorating the top of it. This is a direct similarity that my model and my design have in common. I wanted parts of my design to show in the model to demonstrate what I think CRAEFT is and how I applied it to my WUNDERKAMMER and CRAEFT designs.
