Jesse Cortes: Architectural Design I
in this project, I had to design a back yard cottage. a back yard cottage is a tiny house that could be placed on your property. it is a very affordable for middle aged adult that wants to move out of have their own personal place. it is very unique in its own way that it is small, and you live there by yourself and want to be in peace. I was assigned a fabric artist, a fabric artist is a person that makes designs with fabric. They use different colored cloth and etc..
Project 02:
For this project we got to design a house for an experienced master craftsman on top of the Old Alton Bridge. in the inside of the house there would have to be a client bedroom and in with its own private bathroom. also, there would be a guest bedroom and a sharable bathroom for the guest and client and there would be a workshop for the client.
Research
The Old Alton Bridge also known as the goatman's bridge, is a historic iron truss bridge connecting the Texas cities of dento and copper canyon. which was built in the 1884 built by the king iron bridge manufacturing company. in addition to this historical bridge, the bridge has a place in local myth. local legends say its haunted by a thing that is half goat and half man. also, in which they say if you knock on the bridge 3 times the goatman appears or also if you honk 3 times in your car and turn off your headlights |

Concept design:
In my design I designed to where you have a lot of space. also, where the house is separated from the entrance to the living space. all the client and guest stuff are on the second floor there is a restroom on the bottom floor. when I was designing I came into a problem. the problem was that the module I made was too big for the bridge and it won't fit in it. so, I decided to take off the roof and put it into a flat roof.
Final design:
On my final design I decided to make the roof into a flat roof made out of panels. then when I started designing the inside of the house, I ran into a problem in the second story part of the house. where it felt like it was too clumped up, so they told me to add more windows, so it won't see to clumped up. also, for my material I used brick to symbolize the color of the bridge and also wood for the trees that was around the sight.
