Glenn Murcutt concept drawing

Glenn Murcutt was born on July 25, 1936 in London. Glenn is still alive to this day and is practicing architecture still. As a child, Glenn grew up in the Morobe province of Papua New Guinea. As a teen, Glenn moved to Sydney, Australia and attended an all boys school, he then went on to graduate Sydney Technical College with a degree in architecture and move on into the world of architecture.
As an early architect, Glenn started his own firm in 1969 and had developed a certain style of how he developed and designed his work. Glenn worked as a sole practitioner and usually only produced residential work and work for institutes around Australia. A few of his early projects include the Laurie short house, Marie short house, and the Berowra Waters Inn(all located in NSW).
As an architect, Glenn has had a major influence in the way architecture is viewed by not only architects, but by normal people too. Glenn went against the “norm” and created a simple yet stunning way to incorporate the landscape and climate into the houses he designs. His motto is “touch the world lightly” because he believes that it doesn’t take much to make your mark at what you do. In one article about Glenn they say “ His groundbreaking designs are celebrated for their focus on the sustainability of the natural environment”
Glenn has done many groundbreaking works and projects over his years of designing, one of them is the magney house. The magney house is most likely his most known house and he is recognized for it. Glenn brought a whole new look to architecture by really molding the houses to the enviroment. He has been recognized for many awards but his largest award is receiving the Pritzker prize award in 2002.

Magney house description
The magney house is a residential house designed by Glenn Murcutt in 1982. It is located at Binge point, New Southern Wales. The magney house is nicknamed “the quarter mile house” because it is almost a quarter mile long and not very wide. The home is a 4 bedroom 2 bathroom house with a garage, kitchen, and a dinning room/ living room. One side of the house is completely glass and if you look out, you would be overlooking the ocean off of Bingie point.

Project 01A: Shipping Container Cabin
In this project we were given the job of designing a container home for someone in east texas looking to have a little home on their land. As a part of this design we had to include a sleeping space for 2, kitchen, lounge area, bathroom, and a work/office space. we were not allowed to add any square footage to our cabin but we were allowed to take out space if we wanted.
Project 02: Spaceform House
In this project, we were given a series of components that we had to follow, such as lot size, and a word that we had to incorporate into our house. We then were asked to design a house using the lot and word that we were given. we had a series of requirements such as rooms we needed, number of bathrooms, ect.

Design Process
In the images below you will start to see the way i began to develop my ideas and sketches. My thinking was that i should find minor ways to implement the word into the house without straying from a traditional "home" look.
