-CRAEFT-
In architecture, craeft originates from traditional notions of craftsmanship. It embodies an approach where design is deeply intertwined with local context, sustainability, and the textile experience of materials. This year, students were tasked with projecting craft through three different projects, all significantly unique from each other. Abstract drawing in Auto Cad, drafting, partis, and model building are some ways work is developed on this page. It is important to understand where the ideas came from, and how they were shown on paper.
Project 1-Axonometric Shapes
Project 2-Bird Residence
Project 3-Dean Residence
Our final project was a combination of every element we learned from architecture, and was a continuation of our birdhouse project, which was continued in this aspect. We learned to scale and draw specific objects that are relevant to our dean's collage, which is the first thing that we made to classify what we were building. We were tasked to construct a building that coincided with the Old Alton Bridge, for example, on top of it, through it, under it, or all three. For this project, I chose to represent craeft by using native Texan architecture by using specific materials for my residence in the model. I chose to exaggerate the use of this material (Metal, wood, and glass) by making a 3 silos, with rooms above the bridge and access below.
After choosing my final project idea and rough drafting some models, drawing it on Auto Cad, drawing elevations and floor plans, I created my final model and presentation, which are portrayed in multiples below.
Thank you for reviewing and considering my work!
