Project 01: "Tadao Ando", " Horiuchi house"
Tadao Ando "Concept Drawning ":

Tadao Ando is a Japanese self-taught architect whose approach to architecture and landscape was categorized by architectural historian Francesco Dal Co as "critical regionalism". Tadao ando was born September 13, 1941 Minato-ku, Osaka, Japan alive till present day (age 75). In his early career he attended night classes to learn drawing and took correspondence courses on interior design. He visited buildings designed by renowned architects like Corbusier, Ludwig Mies Van der Rohe, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Louis Kahn before returning to Osaka in 1968 to establish his own design studio, Tadao Ando Architects and Associates. Ando was inlfluced by different things along his young life He worked as a truck driver and was a boxer. Struck by the frank Lloyd Wright designed imperial hotel on a trip to Tokyo: As well as the designing of the frank Lloyd Wright designed imperial hotel, Ando and was raised in Japan where the religion and style of life strongly influenced his architecture and design. Ando has an award to be exact AIA gold medal in 2002. One of the projects that were very eye striking to me was the Church of light in Ibaraki Osaka prefecture Japan.
Horiuchi House, Description:
In a way the glass block wall house (Horiuchi House) located in Osaka Japan, its interior and exterior design is like concrete walls are used as rock and glass as the opening of a cave; Tadao Ando chose to make the experience of someone standing inside the house looking out – and vice-versa – a little more sophisticated. This house is very low key to the architecture society but when you see it shows a open mind to people who look from the outside in because light takes a big part in this house. Glass will struck you more than ever because it shows what you can do with a brilliant mind but also nature itself.

Project 02: SPACEform House
For this project the approach was to desighn house based of what type of client you had and what type of architecture form word we were given at the very beginning of the process. Threw out the process of this project we were each given a lot number each student in the class had different lot numbers with different measurements. As an architect it was our job to build a house to fit the lot we were given , build a house to our clients standards and make house based on our architecture word and combined all of it together to form a well done project house at the end.
"Word Concept Drawing"Client Story |
Project LocationMy word was "expand" not only when you see it expanding but while looking you will also expand the mind aswell.

My client lives by himself he owns his own company and is in his own construction company he likes the open land just how big his backyard is. The house he lives in very broad to him very expansive to conserve space.
Design Process
Since my word was Expand I really wanted to make a lot space in my house but long space linear space. I have extended the house with three different balconys facing the outside backyard to show the expansiveness of the house to outside world. The point was to make both outside and inside expansive to expand the mind to bigger and broader things.

Final design
My final product was going to be just one floor. To show the extensiveness of the house longer cause my lot was long as well. I extended the kitchen and living room to just one long room and combined them together one each side. The white piece on my final model is going to be a thin layer of a window to let natural light in to the house. The entrance of my house would entering a small open room to the right as you walk down you will see three entrances of your choice through out this long hall way. One would be the combined living room and kitchen, the other room would the bathroom and last would be the master bedroom. Through out this process I really tried to expand and use critical thinking to inure a expansive house threw mind and reality.
